Washington Landscaping License Requirements (2026)

Washington requires any person performing landscape contracting services to register as a Specialty Contractor with the Department of Labor and Industries (L&I) under RCW 18.27. Landscape work is classified as a specialty scope. Registration requires posting a surety bond and maintaining liability insurance. Pesticide application separately requires a Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) Commercial Pesticide Applicator license under RCW 17.21.

Regulatory Oversight
